What You Will Learn

We first make the system work for you, then develop the skills in the water. Training focuses on:

• harness and buoyancy-system setup;
• cylinder positioning, attachment and handling;
• regulator routing and valve access;
• buoyancy, trim and propulsion techniques;
• independent and balanced gas management;
• regulator switching, checks and valve shutdowns;
• gas sharing and safety procedures;
• detached-cylinder handling and problem solving;
• controlled ascents and surface marker buoy deployment.

Who Is This Course For?

The course is ideal for divers who want greater equipment flexibility and control, or a strong foundation before progressing toward Technical Sidemount, Cavern or Cave training. Sidemount Diver is an open-water course and does not qualify a diver to enter caves or other overhead environments.

Configuration changes are made progressively, and certification depends on mastery of the required knowledge and practical skills rather than simply completing a fixed number of days. Does sidemount let me dive deeper?

No. Sidemount is an equipment configuration, not a depth or technical-diving qualification. You remain within the limits of your existing certifications and training.

Can I progress to Technical Sidemount or Cave training?

Yes. Sidemount Diver provides an excellent foundation, but technical and overhead courses have their own prerequisites and standards.

How much time should I plan?

Plan on approximately 2 to 3 days. The exact duration depends on your experience, buoyancy control and progression.
