Course Requirements
To participate in the Advanced Open Water Diver course, you must hold an IANTD Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent certification issued by another recognized training agency.
You must also:
- be medically fit to scuba dive;
- complete the required medical questionnaire;
- present your Open Water certification;
- have sufficient recent diving experience;
- master the fundamental Open Water skills;
- be reasonably comfortable with your buoyancy.
If you have not dived for an extended period, a refresher session may be recommended before the course begins.
The minimum age for the full certification is 15 with parental or legal-guardian authorization, or 18 without authorization.
A Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification may be available for divers between 10 and 14 years old. For divers aged 10 or 11, the maximum depth is limited to 21 metres/70 feet.
